User Agreement & Acceptable Use

Acceptable use, user contributions, automated access, AI training, enforcement and how to challenge published material.

In plain English

The rules for using the site, contributing to it, and interacting with our team and other readers. Applies to comments, corrections and any user-submitted content.

01

Scope

This User Agreement supplements the Terms of Service. It governs any feature that allows you to submit content to Yottatable or to interact with other readers, including contact forms, email correspondence, social-media interaction that we reference, and any future comment or contribution feature.

By submitting content or interacting with us in these ways, you confirm that you have read and accepted this Agreement.

02

Who may use the site

You may use the site if you are at least 16 years old and if you are not barred from using it under the laws of your country of residence. If you are using the site on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept this Agreement on its behalf.

03

Acceptable use

When interacting with us or with features we host, you agree not to do any of the following:

  • Submit content that is unlawful, misleading, defamatory, harassing or hateful, or that infringes someone else's rights.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware or any code intended to disrupt or compromise the site or another user's experience of it.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to parts of the site, to other users' accounts, or to systems connected to the site.
  • Use the site to send unsolicited commercial communications or to harvest information about other users.
  • Post content that is irrelevant to the discussion, repeated across threads, or designed primarily to drive traffic off-site.
  • Bypass or attempt to bypass rate limits, captchas or other measures designed to protect the site.
04

Contributions and submissions

If you submit content to us — for example a correction, a tip, a photograph or a comment — you confirm that you have the right to submit it and that it does not breach this Agreement. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, publish and adapt that content for the purpose of operating, promoting and improving Yottatable, including in edited or summarised form.

You may request attribution. You may withdraw the licence at any time by emailing [email protected]; we will remove the content where reasonably possible, while retaining a record of the original submission for editorial and legal purposes.

05

Right of reply, corrections and challenges

If you believe we have published something that is inaccurate or that materially affects you, contact [email protected] with the article URL, the specific statement you challenge and the source you believe contradicts it. We investigate every well-sourced correction request and apply public corrections where appropriate.

Manufacturers and brand owners who wish to challenge a measurement or claim should email [email protected] with their test protocol. We will not change a measurement in response to an unsupported objection, but we will engage with substantive technical evidence.

06

Automated access and AI training

You may not use automated means to access, scrape, index or extract content from this site at scale without our prior written permission. This includes crawlers, scrapers, browser automation and any system designed to make our content available to train, fine-tune, evaluate or ground commercial machine-learning models.

Academic and personal-use scrapers operating at low rate and respecting robots.txt may proceed without explicit permission; commercial use does not. We publish a robots.txt and an AI policy statement at the root of the domain.

07

Enforcement

We may take any of the following steps if we reasonably believe this Agreement has been breached: warn the user, suspend or terminate access, remove or edit submitted content, block specific IP ranges, report conduct to law enforcement where required, and take any other action we consider necessary.

08

Third-party claims

If a third party brings a claim against us arising from your submission or from your use of the site, you agree to indemnify us on the terms set out in the Terms of Service.

09

Changes

We may revise this Agreement from time to time. The version date appears at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for at least 30 days.
